Something For Sunday

We the People of the United States tout that we are all created equal and are endowed with certain inalienable Rights including Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. We are a united equal people on paper. In reality, a fact check will reveal that we are not what we claim to be.

“But our newly elected team gives us a cause to hope.  Hope resting in the promise of the restoration of the will of the People.” Rev. Gerald Adams

Recently, we the People elected a leader to replace our current leader.  True to form, the current leadership has refused to concede to the will of the People.  But our newly elected team gives us a cause to hope.  Hope resting in the promise of the restoration of the will of the People.

The celebrations that took place at the announcement of the results of our current national election signaled that a majority of the People wanted, yea demanded change. So, it will be and this is a reason to hope.  The People must hope.

As I pondered the national scene and the desire of the People for change, it occurred to me that there are at least two ways to understand our hope.  I have been sharing with all who will listen that the Biden/Harris administration will succeed only if the People take an active role in ensuring that success.  In other words, the People must untie the hands and hearts of its leaders.

Two acronyms for the word HOPE, express my true feelings.

H – Help   O – Open   P – People’s   E – Eyes   which should result in H – Helping   O – Our   P – People   E – Emerge

“We must respect each other by wearing our masks, washing our hands and distancing ourselves properly.” Rev. Gerald Adams

The People have a part in it.  We must respect each other by wearing our masks, washing our hands and distancing ourselves properly.  The People must hold their elected leaders responsible at the local, state and national levels. The People must insist on the proper operation of the Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches of our government.  We cannot opt out and expect this nation to rise out of its ashes.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.  God has showed us what is required of us:  act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with Him.  He has promised if we seek His face and repent, He will heal the land.  We can no longer be driven by greed and the lust of our flesh; we must be guided by our trust in the Lord.

The call for hope has been issued by we the People and we the People must see to it by becoming involved.  We see, we know, now let’s act.
