ReelUrbanNews.com recently spoke exclusively with the Los Angeles City Councilwoman, Jan Perry about her historic campaign to become the cities first African American Jewish Mayor. In our conversation, Ms. Perry discussed her time in office, her contribution as a public servant and her vision for the City of Los Angeles. “My parents were my early role models in public service. My father was elected mayor in the 1960s where I grew up in Ohio. My mother got elected some years later as mayor. I have two mayors in my family.” Elected in 2001 to represent the 9th district, which encompasses all of Downtown Los Angeles and extends into South Central, Perry is credited with revitalizing Downtown and the surrounding communities. “What downtown has done for this city; it has improved the bottom line for the future of this city. Downtown has brought in net new revenue to the general fund, so my contribution to the general fund has been significant. In addition to that, I have been able to bring in 90,000 new jobs over the last 11 years to the city that didn’t exist before.” Hon. Jan Perry, L.A. City Councilwoman, Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate 2013

  1. Great interview, Michael!

Maybe adding her web address would help move traffic to her site?

I really like her line, “…always be willing to fight…”
