Spring Into Action 2021

This past year taught me to live and take chances. This spring will be here before you know it. Don’t play it safe when it comes to design and sprucing up your space. Set your own trends this spring. Be bold and deliberate in your choices. It’s okay to allow designs to help influence the direction you want to go in because you say “I’m not a decorator.” This spring give in to the things that make you happy in design. It’s easier than you think.
Let’s Get Started: Begin with 5 pieces that you love and can’t live without. This will allow your space to tell a story about who you are. Easy enough, right?
Don’t Get Overwhelmed: Allow colors and textures to help pull your look together. Ask yourself, how you want the room to feel? If you want it to be a calm space, choose colors to nurture that mood. Don’t be afraid of color, but at the same time blending colors is very important in decorating. If you’re not good in this area, do a little research. Get inspired by other decorators. That’s not cheating.
You’ve Got This: Layer, Layer and Layer. For example, I love to take a large mirror and layer it with art, words, or another piece of décor. It’s interesting to look at. Try it; I bet you’ll love it.
Just Do It: Choose an item that may be out of the ordinary, a conversation piece, something you wouldn’t ordinarily choose. I always buy one high-end piece. It looks and feels expensive. You dictate what’s considered expensive… It’s your budget.
You Should Be Good at This: HAVE FUN!! Have so much fun that you can’t wait to do it again. Take pride in making your room and life feel the way you want it to. So, get at it. I would love to see what your life says about you in your design.
