One does not have to be long in Texas in the fall to realize that Texas is a football state. From the youngest (Pop Warner) to the oldest (arm chair quarterbacks) everyone is into football. High School playoffs are televised just as are their college counterparts. Some later built high school stadiums are more elaborate than college stadiums with more luxury. So, it is little wonder that the Dallas Cowboys were once designated as America’s team.
Alas, Dallas, the home of the Cowboys, has been the last several years, In Search of America’s team. On Sunday evening against the Washington Redskins, the Cowboys had a chance to make it back to the playoffs but a blown offensive sequence in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, sent them home looking for another chance next season.
What happened to the glory days of a team that America fell in love with because of its winning ways? The citizens of Dallas. Texas are at loss for an answer although everyone has an opinion. What we do know is that once again the search for America’s team was left on the field at the home of the 2012 surging Redskins.
